Drawn exclusively from the Tyler Museum of Art’s permanent collection, this exhibition highlights the depth of contemporary Texas art held by the institution. Together, these selected pieces provide a glimpse into the quality and diversity of Texas art since the mid-80s.
The ideas expressed throughout the exhibition are as varied as the media in which they are conveyed. From veteran artists such as David Bates to emerging talents like Hadar Sobol, each individual has left their own mark on the Texas art scene.
Contemporary Texas also celebrates the indelible role the Tyler Museum of Art has played over the past few decades. Many of the included artists have been featured in memorable solo and group exhibitions since the museum opened its doors in 1971.
